On any given day, Lesley Etherly can be found picking her daughters up from school, recording a podcast, launching an app, writing a thesis for one of her many degrees, pitching a grant idea or hosting a community event, and seems to do it all with ease and boundless excitement. She is the definition of work-life-balance.
Lesley dreams big and walks the walk. She is tirelessly dedicated to bridging gaps in under-resourced communities and is one of the most creative people I know when it comes to identifying and securing all of the components needed to see her ideas through. Lesley’s impressive résumé includes the following highlights: Black Woman’s Expo panelist, Invest Chicago awardee, Chicago Heroes Project feature, Echoing Green Fellowship finalist, and a Kartemquin Films Diverse Voices In Doc fellow.
As Communications Manager of Chicago Youth Voices Network, Lesley also promotes the work of member organizations such as Urban Gateways. Urban Gateways recently launched the Teen Arts Pass, which gives access to day-of-show tickets to see live professional performances in and around Chicago. With all of her projects, including an upcoming expansion of Creative Tech Expo into new cities, Lesley is definitely one to watch; and it’s safe to say an Emmy or Webby Award are in her future.
